TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Wabash Valley man accused in a December 29 police chase was arrested again Thursday.

Lee Bemis had been arrested in December, along with Christina Gruner, on accusations they fled from police in a stolen truck, drove the truck through a fence and into a wooded area, and were later found lying in snow near the Wabash River.

Bemis had been released from jail but did not return for his scheduled court appearances.

With help from a tip and the U.S. Marshall’s service, police arrested Bemis Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop near the intersection of 3 rd and Margaret in Terre Haute.

Bemis has been accused of fleeing from police in the past. In January 2011, Bemis was arrested after police said he fled from them and jumped into the Wabash River.
