TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTHI) - - Terre Haute police arrested 39 year-old Christopher Elinger Sunday night.
Authorities tell News 10 Ellinger had wrecked his van on the bridge after an alleged domestic dispute in West Terre Haute. An officer then spotted the damaged vehicle near 3rd and Ohio and attempted to pull Ellinger over.
Police say Ellinger then drove away at a high speed ending in a nearby parking lot. Authorities say he then tried to run over an officer and pulled out a gun.
Police had to use a taser and baton to detain Ellinger before taking him away. Ellinger was taken to Regional Hospital and then to the Vigo County Jail.
He now faces criminal recklessness with a vehicle, resisting and battery on law enforcement, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
