Terre Haute man charged with child molestation

TERRE HAUTE,Ind.(WTHI) - A Terre Haute man is behind bars, accused of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old babysitter while at a Vigo County campground Saturday.

The 13-year-old told investigators that Derek Bennett, 29, had rubbed her shoulders and breast in an inappropriate way on Saturday. She also said Bennett held her down against a bed inside a camper later that day.

When interviewed by officers, Bennett told them that he had been drinking that afternoon and remembered rubbing the girl’s shoulders. He said he did not remember whether he touched other parts of the girl’s body, but he said did not think he had.  

Bennett faces one preliminary felony charge of Child Molestation.
