TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former Terre Haute resident appeared in court Tuesday, one week after he was arrested on charges of committing cyber crimes involving children.
Christopher Cyre, 38, is charged with felony Child Exploitation, Child Solicitation and Possession of Child Pornography, according to court documents. Cyre was arrested in Kentucky last Tuesday on a warrant out of Vigo County, Ind.
In March 2012, Indiana State Police received four tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Those tips referred them to an internet address belonging to a bank operations center in Terre Haute.
The address led police to an IT worker there named Christopher Cyre. When interviewed by police, Cyre told them he used his work laptop to visit social media Web sites on which he presented himself as an underage male looking to interact with underage females.
On his laptop, investigators reported finding at least three images that seem to show a nude girl under age 16. They also reported finding video chats in which two girls were engaged in sexual activity that appeared to be directed by Cyre. In the video chat, one girl mentions that the other girl is 15 years old, according to the case’s probable cause affidavit.
