Ex-farmer's death ruled as homicide

SULLIVAN CO., Ind. (WTHI) - The death of a Sullivan County man has been ruled a homicide, authorities announced Monday.

Lowell Badger, 85, was found dead on the floor of his bedroom at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said Mr. Badger's son found him dead and noticed signs of trauma.

Electronics and other items were found missing from the residence, police said.

Sullivan County Coroner Jeff Griffith released the Manner of Death as “Homicide” and the Cause of Death as a gunshot wound, after an autopsy at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr Monday.

State Police say they have interviewed various people but do not have any definitive suspects, said Sgt. Joe Watts.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact First Sergeant Jeff Hearon or Detective Tom Hanks of the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114. Detectives are interested in the time frame from Saturday, December 8 at 8:00 p.m. until 9:23 a.m. on Sunday December 9.
