ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTHI) - News 10 has new information on a standoff out of Rosedale, Indiana.
Police said the suspect gave himself up at 7:06 p.m., and then left in an ambulance due to cuts believed to be self-inflicted.
Sergeant Joe Watts, with the Indiana State Police says the shooter was using a long, high powered rifle.
Police attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but the suspect was unwilling to talk.
The suspect, Zachary T. Buza, 19, of Rosedale, IN. was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of lacerations and contusions.
The injuries were sustained prior to Buza exiting the residence. Upon release from the hospital, Buza will be incarcerated in the Parke County Jail.
Buza is initially charged with felony Attempted Murder, Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon and battery. Additional charges are expected.
Aside from the suspect who is being treated for cuts, a Deputy Town Marshal and an Indiana State Police Trooper were hit with debris from bullets striking a Police cruiser; however, neither were shot. Those injuries were non-life threatening.
Agencies assisting were the Parke and Vermillion County Sheriff’s Offices, Rockville, Clinton, and Fairview Park police departments, Indiana State Excise Police, Rosedale Fire Department, Parke County EMS.
