Standoff stemmed from shots fired in Rosedale, IN

ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Rosedale Deputy Town Marshall and an Indiana State Police Trooper initially responded to the call and noticed two individuals fleeing the residence.  They informed officers that there was an armed hostile man inside the home.

Officers heard glass breaking from a north side bathroom window, and noticed the suspect holding what appeared to be a rifle.

The officers took cover and were immediately under fire from the suspect.

A few rounds struck the ISP commission breaking glass and traveling through the dash area, exiting on the side where the officers were taking cover. 

The officers were hit with debris, and were later treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two officers returned fire; however, no other shots were fired from the suspect.

The suspect barricaded himself inside the house.

Multiple Police agencies then responded to the call for “shots fired”, including Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team (ERT)., and surrounded the residence.

In doing so, the suspect voluntarily exited the home and surrendered without incident to state police officers at 7:06 this evening.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and has been treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Agencies assisting were the Parke and Vermillion County Sheriff’s Offices, Rockville, Clinton, and Fairview Park police departments, Indiana State Excise Police, Rosedale Fire Department, Parke County EMS.
