CLARK CO., Ill. (WTHI) - Officers from the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and Clark County Sheriff’s Department were conducting an investigation regarding an outdoor marijuana grow at a house on the 23000 block of Fishback Road in rural Clark County Illinois.
"There were some flyovers by Illinois state police today, there were places that cannibas was thought to be present," Sheriff Jerry Parsley of Clark County said.
That led police to the residence on fishback road.
"As we were trying to locate the resident of the property we noticed a lot of cannibas buckets. In places where it was freshly pulled up," Parsley said. "I just wanted to make contact with (the resident.)"
As officers approached one of two suspects pulled a handgun and shot himself in the head.
The incident is currently being investigated by Illinois State Police at the request of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
