SULLIVAN CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a small pickup that caused a semi-tanker to tumble on its side.

A semi-tanker transporting a full tank of propane gas overturned on C.R. 300 West, just south of C.R. 100 South in Sullivan County.

The initial investigation revealed a Toyota pickup--for unknown reasons at this time--swerved toward the tanker, which caused the tanker driver to turn towards the shoulder to avoid the collision.

After the pickup corrected itself and continued on, the semi driver attempted to correct his vehicle back onto the road; however, momentum from the initial turn carried the tanker off the roadway, and caused it to overturn.

Emergency crews responded around 9:00 a.m. to the accident.

The semi driver received minor injuries, but rescuers were forced to extricate him by cutting off the top of the semi-cab.

Hazmat crews worked quickly to check the tanker for any possible leaks.

Rescue personnel at the scene said that it was luck that the accident didn’t cause much more devastating problems.
