TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police is asking for the communities help solving a credit card theft that started in Kentucky, making its way here to the Wabash Valley.

A snap shot taken from a surveillance camera from inside the Casey's General Store located on US 231 in Cloverdale shows a man Indiana State Police believe stole the credit card.

If you recognize the man in the photo, please call Indiana State Police at 1-800-225-8576.

News 10 spoke to police who say there is no specific target criminals look for opportunity.

“Make sure you keep track of your credit cards. Make sure you keep track of the exact number of credit cards you have, try to keep them in your possession at all times. Should they become stolen, make sure you have the credit card numbers and the appropriate telephone for that source in another location so you can quickly call them and put these credit cards on alert,” Sergeant Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police said.

To avoid becoming a victim of credit car theft, police say carrying cash is always a good option.
