LYFORD, Ind. (WTHI) - Shattered windows, slashed tires and a broken walker.
That was the scene just moments after a violent fight between Amanda Berry and her ex-husband Jackie Berry outside of their apartment.
Police said Amanda admitted to throwing a steak knife at Jackie, stabbing him in the back.
"At this time, she is going to be charged with aggravated battery for the stabbing," Parke County Chief Deputy Bill Todd said.
News 10 was there when Amanda was taken into custody.
Moments later, her crying son was taken out of the home followed by her baby girl.
Deputies said the children not only witnessed the fight but were living with a meth lab.
"Very disturbing. The children don't ask for this and that's the last thing we want to see is children involved in the violence and the drug part of this," Todd said.
A drug dog and an Indiana State Police meth lab team searched the apartment.
They found several items used to make meth.
"Some of the containers and whatnot are empty where they've done this previously and there are some active ingredients that are going on right now," Todd said.
Jackie Berry was treated at the hospital, then hours later, he joined his ex-wife in jail.
Now, it's not just the stabbing police are concerned about.
"The kids are priority one at that point," Todd said.
The couple is now facing child neglect charges and several meth charges.
The meth charges have escalated to A felonies due to the amount of meth found in the home.
Police also found marijuana inside the home.
