VIGO CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Police are searching for Justin Compton, who escaped from the Vigo County Court House during a court hearing, and may be in possession of a firearm.

Police advise all to use extreme caution when dealing with Compton.

Compton, 26, is 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes.  Compton has several tattoos: “White Pride” on right side of neck, “Compton” down inside of left arm, Demonic faces and a skull on right upper arm.

Compton was recently at the Vigo County Courthouse (on his own recognizance) for sentencing when he suddenly exited the courtroom, jumped from the second floor rotunda, and fled the building.

Detectives spoke with family members who advised that Justin supposedly has terminal illness, and his flight was due to the sentence being longer than his life expectancy.

Family members report that Compton has vowed that he will not die in prison.

Wednesday, detectives learned that Compton may now be in possession of a handgun.

It is believed that Compton may be frequenting the eastern Vigo County area.

Please use extreme caution around him.

If you know of the whereabouts of Justin Compton, or have come in contact with him, please call 9-1-1.
