Plea deal reached for ex Brazil chief

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Attorneys for a former Brazil, Indiana police chief have agreed on a plea deal with prosecutors, the sides told a Vigo County judge Thursday.

Indiana State Police first arrested Terry Harrison in 2008 on allegations he cashed a $2,000 federal grant check but never deposited the money into city funds.

Initially, Harrison had been charged with two felonies: Official Misconduct and Failure to Deposit the funds.

Under the plea agreement, Harrison would plead guilty to Official Misconduct and the Failure to Deposit charge would be dropped. The plea agreement did not include recommendations on sentencing, court officials said.

A plea and sentencing hearing on the matter is scheduled for February 21.
