Otha Scott agrees to 8 years in prison

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former youth coach in Terre Haute accepts a plea agreement for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine

Otha Scott Jr. was arrested in May of 2010 for his alleged involvement in a Terre Haute meth ring.

Scott accepted a plea agreement on Tuesday for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams of methamphetamine.

The plea agreement given to News 10 from the U.S. Attorney's Office states the parties agree to a sentence of 96-months or 8 years imprisonment plus supervised release and a fine that will be determined by the court.

This plea agreement stems from a wire tapping of Scott's phone by the DEA in March of 2010. Federal officials said Scott along with several other people used code language to pull off the meth operation. It also found Scott talking with the ring leader, Wesley Hammond, an inmate in the New Castle Correctional Facility.

Now the judge has not accepted nor denied Scott's plea agreement at this time. News 10 has been told a plea sentence will take place in a couple of weeks.
