TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Terre Haute Code Enforcement needs your help with finding a suspect linked to an animal abuse case involving a pit bull puppy.

Officers found the abused puppy this month, on the 1400 block of Woodley Ave.

Officers said the dog had multiple lacerations to its head and a wound to its tail.  According to Police, the type of wound to the dogs hind area suggests the suspect attempted to amputate the dog’s tail.

The dog was immediately taken to a local veterinarian’s office and treated for its injuries.

Officer Jamie Ennen said this case is one among the unusually higher number of abuse cases turning up lately.

“There has been several abuse cases here, lately, in the last couple of months.  We don’t know what’s going on, but we have seen a couple of abuse cases, said Code Enforcement Officer Jamie Ennen.  “So, any information anyone can give us, it would be great.  Just call Crime Stoppers.”

Police reported that veterinarians had to amputate the dogs tail, and stitch the lacerations on the dogs head.

No suspects have been arrested in this case.

If you have information about a suspect, or witness animal abuse in your area, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (812) 238-STOP.
