TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Authorities have identified the body found at a Terre Haute apartment complex Wednesday and have offered new details on the crime scene.
Terre Haute Police Assistant Chief Shawn Keen tells News 10 that the body found was that of 47-year-old Guy Sutton, a double amputee, who was living in the apartment.
Late Wednesday night, police arrested Byron Sutton, 46, brother of the deceased. Friday, Sutton appeared in court and was charged with altering a crime scene and receiving stolen property.
Police said maintenance workers found the body of Guy Sutton Wednesday, after having received complaints about a smell. Vigo County Coroner Roland Kohr said early indicators were that Sutton had been dead several weeks.
The case is being investigated as a homicide. Police still have not released how Guy Sutton died, but new details on how police found him came out during the initial hearing.
Police said they found a pool of blood on a couch in the apartment. They also said they found a Ruger revolver with one spent round.
There is still no word on whether or not the gun is involved in Guy Sutton’s death, but we'll be sure to pass along any new information as it becomes available.
