TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former West Terre Haute police officer faces a federal charge of possessing a stolen gun, according to an indictment filed Thursday.

Federal prosecutors allege Rick Porter had been in possession of a stolen Marlin Model 336, .30-30 caliber rifle.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office tells News 10 the gun was discovered as part of an investigation into allegations that former police chief Mark Arnold had bought weapons with public funds and sold them.
