VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Albert Kiger, who was shot and killed at his home Thursday morning, only had a handful of neighbors on Robertson Road.
Several of those living nearby told News 10 they didn't know much about him.
However, many did know about Kiger's history of getting into trouble with the law.
Theresa Custer, a woman who's lived on Robertson Road for nearly 30 years, said it's always been a quiet neighborhood but the past few years there has been a lot of activity around Kiger's home.
When she learned of the shooting Thursday morning she said she wasn't shocked.
"They'd been turned in, he's been busted before, he went to jail," Custer said. "It surprises me it hasn't happened before now with all the traffic and everything going on down there."
While investigators are interviewing people of interest, the Vigo County Sheriff's Department is patrolling that area.
Custer said despite the fact no one's been arrested she still feels safe.
"I have no idea what happened and I don't care but they won't mess around up here," Custer said.
News 10 did talk with the woman who called 911, she said she did not hear anything or know about the shooting until Kiger showed up on her front step.
She declined to talk on-camera.
