Man sentenced to 30 years after crime spree

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Wabash Valley man hears his fate after a crime spree in October 2011.
Andre Moton was sentenced to 30 years Friday after authorities say he escaped Gibault Children's Services along with two other teens.
Police say the trio beat one man, stole a car from another, led police on a chase and then crashed the stolen car.
17-year-old Therlow Pope of Gary, Indiana died from that crash.
Last September, Moton pleaded guilty to robbery and carjacking but a judge withdrew his plea.
Vigo County Deputy Prosecutor Rob Roberts said they are pleased with the judge's decision.
“When we have a case like this that's so serious, long-term injuries on one of our victims, there's really no way of making that type of situation whole. However, I think given the 30-year sentence the judges chose today, given all the things the law required he balance, the aggravators, the mitigators, it's an appropriate sentence and we're satisfied with that sentence,” said Roberts.
