VIGO CO., Ind. (WTHI) - On October 15, 2012 Vigo County Sheriff's Deputy Khris Morris was dispatched to Regional Hospital ER for a female victim who was in the ER with injuries that she received in a altercation with her boyfriend Cody Julian, 22.
Deputy Morris arrived and spoke with the victim, whom stated her boyfriend of two month, Cody Julian, and her were at her apartment in Garden Quarter, when Cody struck her on her face, knocking her to the ground and rendering her unconscious.
When the victim initially regained consciousness, Cody then began striking her again, knocking her unconscious a second time.
When she finally regained consciousness the second time, Cody had fled and she found her cell phone had been thrown up against the wall and was in pieces.
A friend was summoned and, a short time later, transported the victim to Regional Hospital.
Later at Regional Hospital, she was able to inform Deputies that Cody may be heading back to Jasonville, Ind. where he lives with his grandmother.
Regional Hospital staff informed officers that the victim had an internal brain injury, and she was being transferred to Methodist Hospital via Life Line helicopter.
Deputy Morris then got the last known description of Cody and alerted the Greene County and Sullivan County Sheriff's Offices, along with the Jasonville Police Department, to be on the look-out for the suspect.
Deputy Morris also contacted on-call Criminal Investigation Division Detective Fischer and advised him of the situation.
Deputy Morris, Detective Fischer, and Lieutenant Westerfield entered the victim's apartment finding several spots of what is believed to be dried blood on the carpet in the living room, and dried blood on the counter in the bathroom.
Green County Sheriff Department assisted Vigo County Deputies in locating suspect Cody Julian at his grandmother’s house in Jasonville.
Cody Julian was arrested and transported to the Vigo County Jail charged with Aggravated Battery and Interfering with the Reporting of a Crime.
Vigo County Division 3 Court found probable cause earlier today and set Cody Julian's bond at $60,000, no 10% allowed.
The victim remains in Methodist Hospital with internal injuries to the brain.
