VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A man wanted in connection with a Vigo County homicide faced preliminary charges in court Thursday.

Enzert Lewis remains a person of interest in the death investigation of his estranged wife Allyson Elmi-Lewis.

In court Thursday, he faced domestic charges related to a violated no-contact order.

Prosecutors preliminarily charged Enzert Lewis with invasion of privacy. Authorities said he violated his wife’s no-contact order against him.

Lewis isn’t charged with her death, police have only named him as a person of interest.

On Saturday, a fisherman found Allyson Elmi-Lewis' body along this gravel road.

But with no witnesses to come forward, police looked into a person of interest, her estranged husband Enzert Lewis.

"During the probable cause hearing this morning, it was mentioned that was one or two witnesses that had seen them together, some mail was found at the residence that reflected both of them receiving mail at that place,” said Terry Modesitt, Vigo County prosecutor.

But here's the possible link to the homicide.

The no-contact order began after a domestic battery charge in 2011, followed by another incident that never went to trial.

"There was a previous case that was dismissed with regards to an alleged rape against the defendant and she was the victim in that case also,” said Modesitt.

The victim never came forward to testify and the charges were dropped.

Now she's dead and questions remain.

Is there a link between the history of domestic battery and the homicide?

For now, the prosecutors will preliminarily charge Mr. Lewis with violating the no-contact order as they continue their investigation.

Enzert Lewis is in the Vigo County jail, at this time.

He's due back in court November 14.

We’re going to keep following this story until Mrs. Elmi-Lewis' family gets some closure.
