Man faces additional child molestation charges

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A man originally arrested on child pornography charges now faces four felony counts including child molestation.

Chauncey Krantz, 38, was arrested back on January 26, 2011. Krantz was accused of being in possession of child pornography.

Police conducted an investigation over almost two months after they received information from a source in Ohio that Krantz was sharing pornographic pictures of a child online.

Police arrested Krantz on unrelated charges out of Terre Haute City Court on January 26. He had been linked to the case and was questioned about the accusations while in custody.

After being questioned, police searched Krantz's cell phone where they say photos were found of a young girl with explicit titles about sexual actions performed with the girl.

Krantz admitted to having sent the pictures to Ohio, Illinois, Texas, and several other places.

According to police, further investigation revealed Krantz was molesting the child seen in the photos he took with his cell phone. They say the incidents occurred between February 25, 2008 to May 10, 2010. The victim in the case was between the ages of 5 and 8 during that time. Police also say the child was again victimized during the month of November in 2011, when the child was 9.

Krantz faces two counts of child molestation, one count of child exploitation, and possession of child pornography.
