DUGGER, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police (ISP) Detectives are investigating a death at a bar in Dugger, IN that was a result of a brief verbal and physical altercation between two men.
The initial investigation revealed after a verbal argument late Saturday night, Richard D. Pigg, 51, of Dugger was struck by the man he was arguing with on the side of the face and dropped to the floor in the Uptown Tavern.
Pigg took the brunt of the impact from the fall to his head.
The other man, who’s identity will not be revealed at this time, fled the scene.
Pigg succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis
A Sunday morning autopsy revealed Pigg died as a result of Blunt Force Trauma to the Head.
It’s unknown as to what the two men were arguing about.
All parties involved in the incident, including the suspect, are known to ISP Detectives and the investigation is continuing.
The lead investigator is ISP Detective Tom Hanks. Assisting were other ISP detectives, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office, Sullivan County EMS, Marion County Coroner’s Office and the Dugger Town Marshal’s Office.
