ELLETTSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - - An Indianapolis man was arrested Wednesday for a crime against the elderly.
Steven Sandlin, 43, was arrested on conspiracy to commit theft by deception.
According to an Indiana State Police release, Sandlin allegedly called elderly Smithville Telephone Company Security customers telling them that he was a representative of a company, Sandlin Security, that bought out the Smithville company. He allegedly told the customers that he needed to schedule an appointment with the them in order to perform some upgrades and system checks.
The Smithville company received several complaints from customers. Police arrested Sandlin at a customer’s home during the scam on Wednesday.
