KNOX CO., Ind. (WTHI) - One intoxicated man was arrested after recklessly texting and driving on US 41 early Saturday morning.

Around 1:35 a.m., ISP Trooper Doug Francis observed a 2004 Ford Ranger traveling north bound on SR 67, when the pickup traveled off the roadway on the left side and nearly struck a guardrail.

The driver then overcorrected the vehicle and traveled from the right lane, through the left lane nearly striking the guardrail on the left-side shoulder.

Once again, the driver overcorrected and traveled through both lanes onto the right side shoulder, nearly striking the guardrail, again.

Trooper Francis pulled the vehicle over and discovered a couple empty beer cans and an open case of beer sitting on the passenger side floor, and another case in the bed of the pickup.

The driver, Travis Telligman, 25, of Vincennes, Ind. admitted he had been texting while driving prior to nearly striking the guardrails.

The latter part of the investigation revealed that Telligman had been intoxicated past the legal limit, with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .18 percent.

Telligman was arrested and take to the Knox County Jail, where he was later released after posting bond.

Telligman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Texting While Driving.
