VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Investigators are still trying to identify a woman that a fisherman found dead Saturday evening.

The body was discovered off of State Road 42, near the Clay and Vigo County line.

Tuesday afternoon, Vigo County Sheriff Deputies and Vigo County Search and Rescue met near the the crime scene to find any clues that could identify the victim.

"We're going to work backwards from the body's location to see if there maybe anything that has been overlooked," Vigo County Sheriff Grew Ewing said.

Volunteers broke into groups, spreading within about a mile radius from the crime scene.

Investigators said they're not leaving any evidence unturned because time is critical.

"With every tick of the clock could be evidence that could be disappearing," Sheriff Ewing said.

Deputies want to get her description to you again.

The woman is between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6inches.

She weighs between 135 pounds and 165 pounds.

Her hair is brown with braids, below her shoulders.

She was last seen wearing men's Ocean Pacific Skate shoes, bought at Walmart.

"Hopefully we can get a name to the body, and then work that investigation, which will lead us to a suspect of suspects. We want to make sure that we've dotted all of our Is and crossed all of our ts at the very beginning because we won't have that second chance," Sheriff Ewing said.

If you know anything, Vigo County Sheriff's Department asks you to call (812) 232-3801.
