Greene Co.Gunman's cause of death revealed

GREENE CO., Ind. (WTHI) - News 10 has discovered the cause of death for the gunman that shot two Greene County, IN Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday.

The Green Co. Coroner revealed to News 10 that Michael Lane, Jr. died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.  The wound was not self-inflicted.

Police stated Lane shot Deputy Jim O’Malley and Deputy Brad Deckard after they responded to a domestic disturbance call near Owensburg, IN.

The officers were met by Lane in the residence who immediately opened fire upon them.

Both Deputies have since been released from the hospital.

Green Co. Coroner considered Lane’s case a homicide and the final results are pending ballistics and toxicology reports.
