BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) - The former Clerk-Treasurer for Brazil, Ind. pleaded guilty to criminal charges Tuesday, in connection with accusations she mis-handled thousands of dollars of city funds.

In early 2011, an audit by the Indiana State Board of Accounts found that Tracy Webster owed the city nearly $20,000. Webster was accused of making unauthorized payments to vendors and overpaying compensation.

Initially, Webster faced charges of Theft and Forgery. Her case was also transferred to Owen County, Indiana.

On Tuesday, Webster pleaded guilty to two charges of Theft, which were listed as A Misdemeanors, officials said. Two other charges against Webster were dropped.

Authorities said Webster was sentenced to one year probation and 180 days of home detention. She was also ordered to pay $7,000 restitution to the city of Brazil and the State of Indiana, which they said she has paid.
