TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Terre Haute man accused of stabbing his wife to death was formally charged with murder Thursday.
Authorities first arrested Robert Spitler late Monday night after receiving a 911 call from a man who claimed he had killed his wife.
When police arrived at Spitler’s home on South 8th Street in Terre Haute, Spitler reportedly surrendered to officers immediately.
Inside the home, they found Spitler’s wife Shawn Singhurse Spitler dead of several stab wounds.
During Robert Spitler’s hearing Thursday, the court appointed him a public defender. A jury trial for Spitler is scheduled for February 26.
