Fight breaks out in Vigo County courtroom

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - UPDATE: The fighting is over.  Police worked quickly and efficiently to subdue the fighters.

William Mallory, the ISU student accused of shooting three people at the Ballyhoo Tavern last week, was charged formally in Vigo County court Tuesday afternoon.

We don't have a lot of details right now; however, News 10's crew on the scene says shortly after Mallory was formally charged, a fight broke out in the courtroom.

News 10's Joe Astrouski has reported that chairs have been thrown, one nearly striking him.  Police are doing what they can to break up the pandemonium at this time.

According to scanner traffic, more police units have been called to the courthouse to assist with the situation.

It has been reported that the Vigo County Courthouse security locked down the courthouse while Police stopped the fight.
