Couple arrested for meth after theft

EDWARDSPORT, Ind. (WTHI) - A Vincennes man and woman were arrested for manufacturing meth and fleeing from Police early Sunday morning, after the pair were caught fleeing a local fertilizer dealership in Edwardsport, IN.

Edwardsport Marshal Ryan Jahnningsmeier pulled Kevin Eads, 29, and Brittany Cooper over, noticing strong odors of ether and anhydrous ammonia emitting from near the vehicle.

The Bicknell Police Department and Indiana State Police helped in the investigation to find the source of the odor.

Police eventually found a backpack containing methamphetamine, as well as precursors and tools used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Cooper admitted that Eads originally possessed the backpack, and that they were stealing anhydrous ammonia from the dealership.

Cooper and Eads were both preliminarily charges with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors, Dumping Controlled Substance Waste, Theft and Improper Storage of Anhydrous Ammonia.

Eads is also preliminarily charges with Intimidation.

The investigation also revealed that the pair have been responsible many other anhydrous ammonia thefts and have repeatedly manufactured methamphetamine.

Cooper's charges are being processed at this time.
