Clay Co. man arrested for sexual misconduct

CLAY CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post have arrested Anthony Sappenfield, 19, of Clay City, IN after nearly a week long investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl.

Detectives were notified of the allegations on June 5 by the victim’s parents.  Their investigations revealed that Sappenfield had sexual relations with the female on multiple occasions which started in April 2012. 

The sexual acts occurred at the victim’s home.

The case was investigated by ISP Detective Chris Carter. Assisting were ISP Detective Sam Stearley, ISP troopers Brandon Mullen and Todd Brown, Clay County Department of Child Services, and the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.
