EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former Boy Scouts executive from the Evansville area faces federal child exploitation charges after investigators reported finding child pornography in his home.
Ryan Bieler, 33, of Ireland, Ind. most recently served as a Senior District Director of the Boy Scouts Buffalo Trace Council, prosecutors reported.
The charges stem from an investigation into a foreign movie production company which law enforcement in the U.S. and other countries believed had been sending sexually explicit images and movies worldwide, authorities said.
Investigators reported finding company records identifying Bieler as a customer of the movie company. During a search of Bieler’s home earlier this month, investigators reported finding DVDs depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. They also reported finding similar images on Bieler’s computer.
During the search, authorities also found “written material in the defendant’s home in which Bieler describes his physical attraction to particular boys he had access to and interaction with through his position with the Boy Scouts of America,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Those with information on the case are asked to call the U.S. Postal Inspector at (317) 328-2512.
