One man was arrested for driving under the influence after he caused a wreck that seriously injured a woman and injured another on U.S. 41 near County Road 400 South.
Around 10:35 Saturday night, Indiana State Police troopers and Gibson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a two vehicle accident with multiple injuries.
A release from Indiana State Police said, upon arrival, emergency rescue crews discovered an injured woman on the ground, ejected from a utility truck that had rolled at least once. There was also a man entrapped in that truck and had to be cut free.
According to the release from the ISP, upon investigation, state troopers discovered that Bill Sempsrote, 67, and his wife Janet Sempsrote, 57, of Robinson, Ill., were traveling northbound on U.S. 41 in a 2006 Toyota utility truck.
The second driver, Marcus Osborne, 27, of Henderson, Ken. was driving a 2005 Chrysler 300 behind the Sempsrotes, when he struck their vehicle, which forced the utility truck off of the roadway into the median. Once the Semprotes’ vehicle hit the media, it rolled over.
Janet was thrown from the vehicle while it rolled and her husband became entrapped after the vehicle came to a stop.
Janet was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Her husband, Bill was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
The release reported Osborne had a BAC of .15 percent, and arrested him for Driving While Intoxicated.
Osborne is being held in the Gibson County Jail where he’s currently being held on bond.
Janet’s condition is not known at this time.
