TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - What began as a hobby quickly turned into a career for Kenny Vermillion.

He turned his past time of carving into a job. His work has even gained national attention.

"I couldn't do anything but work in a factory," said Kenny Vermillion. "It was my life, and I just got tired of it and I just told them what they could do with their job. I've been carving ever since."

That would eventually help him with financial security, as some of his pieces sell for several thousands of dollars.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels even took one of Vermillion's carvings as a gift overseas to Asia.
