The primary election kicked off at 6 and goes until 7 p.m. central time on Tuesday.
Several counties, like Clark, do not have any locally contested elections, but there are several races going on at the federal and state level including the race for governor and President Obama's old senate seat.
New Ten spoke with a few poll workers in Marshall, Illinois who said things were moving a bit slow so far, but that could be because there are no locally contested races, it's a closed primary and many people may have voted early.
Again polls across Illinois will be open until 7 p.m. central time on Tuesday.
If you don't know where you're suppose to vote, call your local county clerks office and they'll be able to tell you where you need to go.
