DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - The state begins laying out the path for the highway between Washington and Crane.

Actual work is scheduled to begin this spring, with the first contract to be awarded next month.

Indiana officials say the purchasing of land for the road is going well.

"There's always speculation out there that you can get it done in the way you say you can get it done," said Ron Arnold from the Daviess County Development Corporation. "Apparently things are a lot better than a lot of people would anticipate."

The project is also getting a boost in terms of money.

Recent highway project bids in Indiana have consistently come in under engineer's estimates.
