Couple arrested for baby's injuries

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A Wabash Valley couple was arrested on allegations of child abuse and neglect.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Summer Belli-McIntyre claimed she was bathing her 2-month-old daughter when her 18-month-old child came up behind her and started kicking and hitting her. That's when Belli-McIntre said she dropped the baby in the bathtub.

Reports revealed Summer and her husband, Rafael Belli-Quino, did not immediately take the child to the emergency room. The infant is alive, but remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The couple's other children have been removed from the home. Summer is charged with battery causing serious bodily injury, while Rafael is charged with neglect of a dependent.

Both remain in the Vermillion County Jail.
