It can be a very stressful and confusing time for a family a doctor tells you that a loved one can no longer live on their own and needs to go to a long-term facility. But how do you choose where to take mom or dad? In Wednesday's Healthy Living, you’ll learn about a 5-star rated facility right here in your back yard!

Robin Collins from Springhill Villages says, “Springhill Village has enjoyed the 5-star rating since we opened in 2009. The 5-star rating is a Medicare quality measure to help consumers decide where they want their loved one to be short-term rehab to get stronger and go home or for long-term care. Medicare rates them to help consumers make decisions. And that's something they can look-up on their own and make an objective decision.

“The 5-star quality rating, which we meet, is based on the ‘Health Care Inspections’. That is the first item and the most heavily weighted. The Indiana State Board of Health comes and surveys each nursing home once a year and they bring a qualified team of licensed investigators to look at all of the parameters of a nursing home and a rehab facility. And then they grade us on that. And the second criteria is ‘Staffing Measures’. They look at a snapshot of a two-week period of time. And we meet that as well. And then the third issue is ‘Quality Measures’, which are things that we are continually doing on to improve our processes and the quality of the care.

“We are very proud to be a 5-star rated facility here in Terre Haute and serve our community with the best quality of patient care that we can provide. We have a lot of demand for our services. The staff is excellent quality and always getting training to improve.

“Everybody is welcomed to tour at any time. We love to give tours, show people around, come for a lunch if you want to, or an activity. We have a lot of exciting things going on...happy to have anyone be a part of it.”
