TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - On a day where temperatures can hit 100 degrees, exercising outdoors may not be on your mind.
For some however, they'll hit the pavement no matter the temperature.
That's the case for Terre Haute resident Ryan Oilar.
He trains nearly year round for running and other endurance events.
And even in this near record July heat he’s outside getting in his workout.
“As Mother Nature turns up the heat, it doesn’t mean you can turn off the heat and sit on the couch and stay indoors, you know, there’s a lot of athletes that are out there training and they need to make sure that they are training and utilizing sports drinks during their training activities,” Oiler said.
If you still plan to exercise outdoors, make sure you drink plenty of fluids and rest often. Oiler adds it also helps to know your body’s limit.
