TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A program aimed at cutting down on health costs is getting high marks from one local group.
The Vigo County School Corporation started using a health clinic two years ago.
The School Corporation saved nearly $1 million over two years in healthcare.
The corporation joined the "Wellness for Life Clinic" after hearing good reviews of the program.
Mick Newport, Director of Human Resources for Vigo County School Corporation said, "A lot of times, they do blood work, and things like that, that they would normally do at a doctor's office. There's no co-pay to our employees that are on our insurance plan, and I really think it saved them a lot of money and saved the corporation a lot of money."
The clinic is designed to help employees receive medical care that's low cost, quick, and convenient.
The Center has seen nearly 13,000 visits in its two years.
Health officials report 79 percent of all eligible employees and families have already used the Wellness Center at least once.
