TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - State funding could be on the way for kids with mental illnesses.

The Indiana Department of Child Services put forth the plan which will help parents better care for their children.

Some parents and their children have become criminals in order to get the state to pay for the child's care.

If passed, the plan will start near Lawrenceburg in the southeastern part of Indiana and go statewide in 2 months.

Officials estimate the plan will cost between $15-20 million a year.
