TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Now, here's a challenge to save lives!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To raise additional awareness and funds, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett is issuing a fun little challenge to area businesses and elected officials.

Donate some money and wear some pink and white polka dot socks!

Mayor Bennett says it is a new way to get the word out and raise money where it is needed.

"The more that we can do, research and solving the problem would go a long way towards keeping people alive; so, that's what its all about."

This year's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at ISU's Memorial Stadium.
