VIGO CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) is a program put on by The Maple Center in Terre Haute to help people learn better ways to take care of their heart.

During the program, they’ll teach the functionality and importance of the heart and ways to keep it healthy: from cooking, to how to create a heart plan with your doctor.

The fall CHIP seminars will start on Monday, September 24.

Every meeting after that will be held on Mondays and Thursdays in the evening on the Ivy Tech Campus in Terre Haute.

However, before then, The Maple Center is holding several informational sessions to interview you to see if the CHIP program is right for you.

The first informational session is taking place Thursday,

September 6 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute in the Atrium Level classroom.

If you can't make it Thursday, there will be 3 other informational sessions on:

  • Monday, September 10 at the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce,
  • Thursday, September 13th at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in classrooms 1 and 2 and
  • Monday, September 17th at the United Methodist Temple.

All sessions run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Each session will go over the cost of CHIP and what that seminar fee includes.

So if you're wanting to improve your heart-health as well as diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, obesity and many other medical conditions but not sure how to get started, attend this free informational session to see if the CHIP program is right for you!

There will also be a healthy food menu cooking demonstration that includes a delicious lunch plus educational talks by Dr. Kathleen Stienstra and Dr. Jean Kristeller on Saturday, September 15 at The Landing in Terre Haute. Advance registration by Monday, September 10 is required. The cost is $20.
