TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - News 10's helping keep an Eye on your Health, by focusing on how to deal with the number one killer of men and women.
Tuesday's Health Watch 10 focuses on support for those who've had heart disease, or know a family member dealing with it.
Heart disease is the number one killer of men and woman.
Being diagnosed with heart disease means some major lifestyle changes, or even surgery for the person or loved one.
That's why Union Hospital has created a support group called Mended Hearts to help you or family members with this transition towards maintaining good health.
"One thing I like about it is you have instant rapport with the people that you meet. Because you've been there, done that. And they instantly feel like you're somebody I can talk to or understands what I'm going through," said Paul Shelton, who works with Mended Hearts and was a former cardiac patient.
If you'd like more information about Mended Hearts, you can call 812-299-5430 or 812-235-7586.
Although Mended Hearts visitors will come to see patients, a group is also meeting Tuesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level conference room at the Hux Cancer Center in Terre Haute.
That's located at 1711 North 6 1/2 Street.
