TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - After buying or building a container garden, filling it with soil and other materials is essential.

Many gardeners choose to line raised garden beds with plastics, old newspaper or other materials to keep out contaminates from wood or the original soil and to prevent the growth of weeds.

Choosing a material to fill the container can also take some thought, especially given the many choices at home stores and retailers.

Among those choices: packaged potting soil and top soil.

Those same retailers also offer several choices in fertilizer: manure, compost, humus.

If you have tips on how to fill, plant and maintain a container garden or photos of your own garden, feel free to share them with us here !
