WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTHI) - Construction crews have moved into a vacant lot on Main Street in Washington.

The work is part of a $70,000 dollar project to turn a vacant lot into a downtown park.

Officials say the bulk of the funding for the project has come from the Chamber of Commerce's recycling for revitalization program.

The development of the green space is part of a bigger picture to improve the old business district.

"We're in the process right now of doing the sidewalks in downtown Washington. We've been restoring building fronts and we just felt like that was something that was missing." Charles Selby, of the Daviess County Chamber says.

The project is expected to be completed in about 2 weeks.
