TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Recycling appears to be on the increase, at least in Terre Haute.

The bins at the Indiana State University Recycling center have been full since it re-opened this week.

The center's manager says in the last three days they've probably seen about 23,000 pounds of materials come into their facility which is an increase.

The theory is that more people are realizing how easy it is to recycle.

"Once you get started, you'll find out that it becomes an everyday habit and eventually you start looking for more things to recycle and it kind of becomes a game to see how much you can keep from going into a landfill,” Paul Reed, Manager of the ISU Recycle Center told News 10.

Reed says about 85 to 90 percent of the items in your home can be recycled and used in new products.
