TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Dry conditions are beating down on lawns and gardens in the Wabash Valley.
Parts of the region are under a moderate drought, while others are listed as abnormally dry. These determined conditions are according to the U.S. Drought Monitor .
Local garden experts said it's important to keep your plants watered, and recommended that plants are watered a few times each week.
"In other words, don't water a little bit every single day, but rather water deeply so the water soaks down well into the root zone. And you'll find that trees and shrubs and things like that are going to establish much better in a [drought-like] situation like we have in the Wabash Valley right now,” Ryan Cummins, from the Apple House said.
Cummins also recommends watering early in the morning. He adds that can help water soak in and keep it from evaporating.
