TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A group known for their green sashes is becoming even greener.

Nearly 200 Girl Scouts, from more than 20 troops, spent the day at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute learning how they can go green to help the environment.

Troops set up interactive tables on various topics like recycling and endangered species.

It's the first time for this go-green event.

It is part of a nationwide Girl Scout's initiative that ties right in with the Girl Scouts law to use resources wisely.

Girl Scouts weren't the only ones out in the park.

There were 25 booths including some from places like the ISU Recycle Center.
